Over the coming months, GoDeacs.com will provide a look at our student-athletes and administrators away from sports with a Get To Know You series. Be sure to follow our social media channels for more!
Today's Get to Know You is Mark Power, a freshman on the men's golf team from Kilkenny, Ireland.
Three words your friends would use to describe you?
Energetic, Funny, Happy.
Average Tuesday night dinner with the family, what are you eating?
Medium cooked steak with some fries or potatoes and vegetables.
What is your favorite place to go in Winston-Salem?
Putters!!
If you had a superpower, which one would you choose?
Time travel.
What makes Wake Forest special to you?
The atmosphere on campus is amazing, I have made many great friends so quickly and the support we receive from coaches and academic advisors is excellent. Everything is within walking distance which is such a great advantage. I can finish class at 1.45 and be hitting balls at our amazing facility at 1.55, we are very lucky
If you didn't play this sport, what other sport would you play or what else would you do? Why?
I would definitely be a soccer player. I have played soccer growing up ever since I was about 6, I stopped playing for my local club at 18 because of my commitments to golf but I kick around with friends whenever I can. I was a member of my county team that won an All-Ireland under 17 soccer championship, so I was alright at it!
Describe your favorite Wake Forest memory?
My favorite Wake Forest memory so far has probably been playing in the East Lake Cup. It is such an amazing event and I enjoyed every minute of it, it was amazing having Golf Channel cover the event and obviously winning the individual trophy personally has been the highlight of my first year on the golf course.
