Last Time Out
Wake Forest opened the spring with a shutout 3-0 victory over Boston College at Kentner Stadium.
Freshman Hannah Maxwell earned ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after her two-goal outing. With 10:23 remaining in the third quarter, the Forty Fort, Pa. found the back of the cage for her first collegiate goal before following up with her second score with 12:14 left in the fourth period.
The conference accolade was the first of the rookie's career. Additionally, the forward became the first Demon Deacon to notch two scores in a game since her classmate Grace Delmotte did so on Nov. 1, 2020 against the Eagles.
Junior forward Eleanor Winants dished out a career-high three assists, the most by a Demon Deacon since Veerle Bos recorded four in a 7-0 victory against Davidson on Oct. 28, 2018.
Freshman Tori Glaister earned her first career win in the cage, holding the Eagles at bay with a career-best tying six saves.
Scouting the Tar Heels
North Carolina is coming off another successful fall season in Chapel Hill, which saw the Tar Heels secure their fourth straight ACC title. North Carolina finished the fall with a record of 10-1, with the team's 3-1 road loss to Louisville being their first loss since the 2017 NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels have gone 57-1 since that loss in penalty strokes to Connecticut, with back-to-back national titles in 2018 and 2019.
North Carolina currently sits at 11-1 after their opening victory of the spring season at home against Louisville. The Tar Heels shut out the Cardinals 2-0 in Chapel Hill behind a pair of goals from junior Erin Matson.
Matson is currently the Tar Heels' leading scorer, with 15 goals through 12 games this season. The reigning First Point USA/NFHCA Division I National Player of the Year and two-time All-American also leads North Carolina in assists (seven), points (37), and shots on goal (38).
Senior Amanda Hendry starts in goal for the Tar Heels. The Wilton, Conn. native has allowed just 14 goals while making 59 saves across 12 games, good for a 1.17 Goals Against average and a save percentage of .808.
2020-21 Spring Season Information

The top ACC finisher this spring will face fall champion North Carolina on April 23 to claim the conference's automatic qualifying spot to the NCAA tournament.
