Coach Lewellen Led Team USA to 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup Title

Wake Forest was the only school in the country to have multiple players on both the United States team and the international team.

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. -- Wake Forest head women's golf coach Kim Lewellen led Team USA to a 33-27 win over Team International after three days of competition at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. Team USA secured the victory on Sunday during singles play when 12 individuals captured victories. 

Individually on the final day of competition, Emilia Migliaccio shot one-over par and tied her match against Maryland's Virunpat Olankitkunchai. Meanwhile, Lauren Walsh (Team International) and Rachel Kuehn (Team USA) squared off and Walsh downed her Demon Deacon teammate, 2&1.

Finally, Alex Fitzpatrick shot two-under par in his matchup for Team International.

"It's been a while since the USA took home the Arnold Palmer Cup and a win is always exciting. More importantly is how well these athletes represent their country and the legacy of Arnold Palmer. The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players. The United States leads the series 12-11-1.
