Alex Fitzpatrick and Michael Brennan shared the individual title at 12-under-par for the week.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The No. 17 Wake Forest men's golf team broke the program record for a 54-hole score Tuesday en route to winning the Old Town Club Collegiate by 14 strokes, carding a 805 and breaking the previous record by six strokes.

The Deacs ran away with the team title on Tuesday afternoon after shooting 273 (-7) and capped off a tournament record 35-under-par performance, breaking the tournament record by five strokes.

With the women's team winning at the Bryan National Collegiate earlier this the day, it marked the first time that both programs won a tournament on the same day. Additionally, this marks the 41st team title since Head Coach Jerry Haas became the coach ahead of the 1997-98 season.

After a record-setting opening round that tied Michael Brennan (62, -8) for the second lowest round in school history. Brennan along with senior Alex Fitzpatrick took a share of the lead heading into the final day at nine-under-par.

Both players traded the lead throughout the day and ended up both carding final rounds of 67 (-3) to share the title. This marks the third tournament title for Brennan and second for Fitzpatrick in their Wake Forest careers.

Their three-round totals of 198 are both tied for seventh in program history for a three-round event.

In total six Demon Deacons ended up with top 25 finishes behind Fitzpatrick and Brennan. In his second collegiate event, Scotty Kennon grabbed his first career top-10 finish with a 54-hole score of 204 (-6). Fellow freshman Marshall Meisel joined him in the top 15, tying for 14th at 5-under-par for the tournament.

He led the second Wake Forest team in the event that finished seventh at 14-under-par. The 826 score was tied for the eighth best 54-hole score in program history.

From Coach Haas:

"I can't thank Old Town Golf Club enough for not only hosting this event, but giving Wake Forest golfers the opportunity to play one of the premier places in the entire country each and every day. The event is a highlight of our fall season.

"To shoot 35-under and bring home the title is something we really wanted this year. The field will continue to get stronger each and every year and that is a testament to the Old Town members getting behind it. We are proud to be the champions of this year's event and each and everyone of the team members are proud to be a Demon Deacon."
