2/23/2022 3:40:00 PM | Track and Field
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Wake Forest is in Blacksburg, Va. this week for the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships (Feb. 24-26).
Each of the top three finishers in each ACC Championship individual event earn first-team All-ACC honors. Those placing fourth through sixth earn second-team All-ACC. Also, members of each winning relay team are named first-team All-ACC, while the members of teams finishing second and third are second-team all-conference.
Additionally advancing to the national meet is on all the minds of Demon Deacon competitors this week. The national meet is set for Fayetteville, Ark. on March 12-13. Earning a trip to the national meet will require that an athlete post one of the top 16 marks in the nation this year. The top 12 relay teams from across the country will also reach the NCAA Championship.
Last Time at ACC Indoor Championships
Overall for the week at Clemson, Wake Forest tallied six all-conference accolades and had two student-athletes (Tony Jones, Anna Bush) earn individual titles. The Deacons now have a combined 38 (20 female, 18 male) ACC Indoor Championships in program history. With that, Wake Forest had two student-athletes earn individual titles at the ACC Indoor Championships for the first time since 2007.
Additionally as a team, Wake Forest's women finished in 12th and the Demon Deacon men placed 13th. Individually, the Deacons totaled 18 personal best times and marks, three season bests and one school record throughout the week.
