The Deacs take on the Bulldogs in the Round of 32 for a fourth-straight tournament.
ATHENS, Ga. – Fresh off a Saturday victory (May 7) to open the 2022 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament, No. 23 Wake Forest (17-110) will face a familiar foe in its next test: the Georgia Bulldogs (18-6).
The matchup gets underway on Sunday (May 8) at 1 p.m. in the Dan Magill Tennis Complex held on the Georgia campus in the city of Athens.
Heading into Sunday, the Demon Deacons have played against the Bulldogs in the Round of 32 through their last three tournament appearances, dropping each contest. Wake Forest has now reached the tournament's second round for a total of 16 times throughout program history.
Wake Forest defeated No. 40 Northwestern (14-10) in the first round.
Last Time Out
An initial stellar doubles showing led to three additional victories in singles, giving Wake Forest a 4-2 first-round win over No. 40 Northwestern on Saturday (May 7).
The win capped a season sweep over the Wildcats for the Deacs, who defeated Northwestern back on Jan. 29 in the '2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kick-Off Weekend,' held in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Additionally, it was the first time all season that a Deacon clinched a team match victory in a three-set performance. Senior standout No. 32 Carolyn Campana was the one to provide the answer, going for her sixth national win in a bounce-back over No. 82 Clarissa Hand.
No. 5 Anna Brylin/Brooke Killingsworth upped their season doubles record to a noteworthy 15-5 mark.
Wake Forest moved to seven wins over ranked opponents this spring.
