Freshman Charlie Sprott was named ACC Freshman of the Year.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams recorded a pair of top 10 team finishes Friday at the 2023 ACC Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Park in Tallahassee, Fla.
Due to finishing in the top 21 individually of their respective races, freshman Brooke Wilson, sophomore Joe O'Brien and junior Luke Tewalt all garnered All-ACC honors Friday.
Additionally, freshman Charlie Sprott was named ACC Freshman of the Year after finishing 23rd overall.
As a team, the Wake Forest men tallied 131 points en route to Friday's sixth-place finish with the Demon Deacons' top three of Tewalt, O'Brien and Sprott all finishing in the top 25.
For the women, Wilson continued her stellar rookie campaign, garnering All-Conference honors behind an 18th place individual finish (20:21.1). Of note, Wake Forest was one of only four teams to have their top three finishers place in the top 30 individually.

"Today was tough as we were missing one of the better runners in the ACC and NCAA. The men went out and competed hard. It was not at all the final team result we wanted. We did have Charlie Sprott become the ACC Freshman of the Year, as we had several of the top freshman in the field. This very young team will continue to grow and learn. We still have a great chance to do some great things at the NCAA Championships in three weeks. It's time to get home, recover and prepare to be amazing with this dedicated group of young men." - director of track & field and cross country John Hayes
"While we fell a bit short of our team goal of top-seven, I'm really proud of the progress we've made this season. The women are racing with confidence and executing their race plans well. Having three women inside the top 31 after having only Mackenna Curtis-Collins there a year ago was a big step forward. We still need to tighten up our 1-5 spread, and I'm confident that will happen at the NCAA Southeast Regional. It's a privilege to coach such an incredible group of women, and I can't wait to watch them race again in two weeks." - associate head coach Ashley Bastron
