RICHMOND HILL, Ga- The Wake Forest men's golf team will travel to Ford Field & River Club in Richmond Hill, Ga. for the Inaugural Invitational at the Ford, hosted by Georgia Southern University. Round 1 will begin on Monday, Feb. 26.

In the Deacs' latest showing at the Southwestern Invitational, the team took eighth place with a final score of 849 (-3). The team turned in their lowest score of the week in the final round and posted a final round score of 282 (-2) with three Deacs posting par or better scores.

In the fall, the Deacs claimed the team title at the Highlands Invitational, and Michael Brennan took home the individual title after completing the tournament at 12-under-par.  Brennan also claimed the Individual Champion title at the 2023 ACC Tournament, becoming the 23rd player in program history to win the conference individual crown.

Wake Forest Individual Titles

The Deacs' Lineup

Michael Brennan

Senior Michael Brennan finished in the top 30 of the Southwestern Invitational and helped lead the Deacs in the first round shooting under-par and counted towards the team score in all three rounds. Brennan is ranked twelfth in the PGA Tour University and 21st in the World Ametur Golf Rankings. Michael Brennan went into the final fall tournament, Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, tallying five birdies through the final 18 holes and shot a 69 (-3) during the third round of play in Georgia, his lowest of the tournament. Brennan had a strong round three performance at the Ben Hogan Invitational rising 16 positions and shooting a 69 (-1). At the Highlands Invitational, Brennan claimed his seventh individual title. The Virginia native has the fourth most individual titles in Wake Forest history. In 2021 Brennan took home his fourth individual title at the Ben Hogan Invitational shooting eleven under-par over the course of the tournament. The senior had a lot of success at Pinehurst No. 2 last season. During the Wake Forest Invitational, Brennan turned in his lowest score of the season shooting a 64 (-6). Last April, Brennan made his return to Pinehurst as he took home the 2023 ACC Individual Title and helped push the Deacs to the final round of the ACC Championship. Heading into his senior season, Brennan made his second professional appearance in the U.S. Open at the Los Angeles Country Club.

Scotty Kennon

Scotty Kennon was a consistent presence in the lineup at The Southwestern Invitational earlier this year, carding three rounds of 70 (-1) and finishing the week tied for 13th at 3-under-par. Kennon made two top-25 finishes last fall, and was one of four Demon Deacons to finish in the top-10 at the Highlands Invitational. During round one of the Highlands Invitational, Kennon tallied four straight birdies from holes no. four through seven. The junior also had the third most birdies tallied at Chicago Highlands. Last year, Kennon came into his own as he ended his season with six top-25 finishes. One of which was his first top-five finish during the final event of the season. The Florida native helped the Deacs take home wins at the Battle of Brian's Creek and the Battle of the Run. During the past two ACC Championships, Kennon has played a big role for the Demon Deacons. This past season, Kennon claimed one of the points to help take the Deacs to their second straight ACC Championship appearance. Kennon ended strong winning 5&4 with big wins on the ninth, 10th, and 12th holes.

Collin Adams

The junior from Charlotte made his season debut last year at the Highlands Invitational, and went on a tear during the second round. During round two, the Charlotte native notched six birdies en route to shooting five under-par. Last season, Adams competed in five events. Adams secured two top-20 finishes and shot a career-low 66 (-6).

Kyle Haas
Playing as an individual, Kyle Haas ended Round 1 of the Southwestern Invitational with two birdies on the back nine. After his second birdie to get back to even par, Haas parred the next eleven holes and nearly ended even par but a bogey on his final hole pushed his score to one-over. Freshman Kyle Haas tallied back-to-back birdies on holes No. 13 and No. 14, shooting 2-under-par during the final round at the J.T. Poston Invitational (T26). Haas ended the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate tournament shooting 2-under-par. The Winston-Salem native claimed his highest finish tied for 12th in his third collegiate appearance at The Blackthorn Club.

Tom Haberer

Tom Haberer had a pivotal stretch between holes 6-8 in round two of the Southwestern Invitational, going eagle-birdie-birdie and ended the day even. In his third collegiate start, Tom Haberer claimed his first finish in the top-25 (T16) at the J.T. Poston Invitational. The freshman shot a 68 (-3) and tallied four birdies and an eagle on hole No. 14 during the first round. Haberer helped push Wake Forest to the team title at the Highlands Invitational, tallying back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18. Haberer secured the highest finish of his career (T5) at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate and his second-straight top-25 finish.

Course Information

When the legendary World Golf Hall of Fame architect Pete Dye designed the 250-acre golf course at The Ford Field & River Club, his goal was to create a course that was fun and playable for golfers at every skill level. The result is an award-winning design course shaped by coastline, meadows and freshwater lakes, featuring a parkland-style front nine and a links-style back nine. Renovated in 2014, the course plays at a par 72 and at 7,409 yards.
