Deacs Return Home for Mid-October Matches Versus Georgia Tech and Clemson

Wake Forest will hold its annual Pink Match this Sunday inside Varsity Arena.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Demon Deacons volleyball (8-9, 2-4 ACC) is back inside Varsity Arena this weekend for more home action, beginning with a Friday matchup (Oct. 17) versus Georgia Tech at 6:30 p.m. On Sunday, Wake Forest will host Clemson during its annual Pink Match, as first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Both of the matches on Friday and Sunday will stream on ACC Network Extra.

Fan Information
There will continue to be free admission for general admission seating for all home volleyball single matches. The team plays each home contest in Varsity Arena, located on the third level of Reynolds Gymnasium (21 Wingate Rd, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27109).
For a second straight year, 28 padded floor seats will be present inside Varsity Arena for spectator viewing along the sidelines opposite the team benches. Those interested in more information can call the Wake Forest Athletics Ticket Office at (336) 758-3322 ext. 2, open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wake Forest Athletics is committed to providing the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina within a safe and fan-friendly environment. Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day headlines the Friday match versus Georgia Tech, as university members that have enhanced the volleyball players' collegiate experience will be recognized by the program. Sunday will feature the program's annual Pink Match, centered on breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and arrive early for a pregame recognition featuring this year's Tenacity Award recipient. The award honors the memory of former Demon Deacons volleyball head coach Heather Holmes, who led the program from 2005-12.
Last Time Out
Most recently, the Deacs faced Big Four rival NC State twice this past week, splitting time at home and on the road.
Wednesday, Oct. 8
Wake Forest 3, NC State 0
The Deacs put on a stellar offensive display last Wednesday, en route to a 3-0 home sweep over NC State.
Wake Forest's hitters were standouts, as the contest featured a seventh time this fall in which three players reached double figures in kills – Patrycja Lagida (13), Paige Crawford (12) and Ryleigh Whitekettle (12). Lagida also notched a new career high in service aces, tallying three to lead all individuals.
Becca Bellows posted her fifth double-double of the year, finishing with 25 assists and 12 digs. Fellow setter Rian Baker had a well-rounded showing with 14 assists, eight digs and two aces.
Sanaa Williams and Sadie Poeck impressed defensively with five blocks apiece. Williams also nailed a career-high eight kills on 10 attacks with only one error (.700).
As a unit, Wake Forest hit .252 from the floor.
With the win, the Deacs defeated NC State for the first time since Oct. 9, 2022.
Saturday, Oct. 11
NC State 3, Wake Forest 1
Matched up with the Wolfpack for a second time in four days, Wake Forest fell in a 3-1 road defeat this past Saturday.
Patrycja Lagida tied her season high in kills, finishing with 18 to lead all individuals. The Chotmow, Poland, native chipped in 13 digs to notch her second double-double of the fall.
Emma Farrell also recorded a second season double-double, tallying a match-high 19 digs, in addition to a season-high 11 assists.
Paige Crawford was solid on both ends, registering 14 kills and nine digs. Her classmate Rian Baker had 23 assists and seven digs. Additionally, Crawford and Becca Bellows handed out two service aces apiece.
Sanaa Williams and Ryleigh Whitekettle protected the net well with six and five blocks, respectively. Sadie Poeck added four blocks. Whitekettle recorded six digs for a new career-best mark in a single match.

Sanaa Williams has emerged as the new team leader in blocks, having posted 70.0 up to date this fall. The middle blocker currently has six performances of five-plus blocks – four of which have occurred within conference play. Additionally, through ACC competition, Williams' 32 blocks ranks fifth among all league players.

The Clemson Tigers are still looking to secure their first conference win, currently 0-6 versus ACC foes and 12-6 overall on the year. The team has mostly stood out defensively, currently first in the league in digs with a 15.73 per-set average. McKenna Gildon has led the charge in that area with a 3.92 digs-per-set average that ranks fifth in the ACC, while a two other Tigers have also competed as top-10 individuals among the conference:
