Last Time Out
The Demon Deacons closed out their regular season two weeks ago, with both the men's and women's teams securing top five finishes in their respective meets.

The women's team concluded their stellar regular season with their third team title at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas. The Demon Deacons were once again led by junior Angelina Perez, who finished in second place with a personal-best time of 19:05.4. Meanwhile, four other Deacs placed inside the top-25, including junior Brooke Wilson (10th), senior Elizabeth Whaley (20th), graduate student Maisie Wilmer (21st), and senior Mackenzie Hart (25th).

Meanwhile, the men's team came away with a third place finish at the Panorama Farms Invitational. Junior Rocky Hansen led the way with a record-breaking performance, finishing with a new course record time of 22:44.4 to claim the individual title. Fellow junior Charlie Sprott also finished in the top-10, as he finished in seventh place after clocking a 23:22.4. Three other Deacs placed inside the top-20, with redshirt freshman Corey Campbell placing 13th, junior Hunter Jones finishing 15th, and senior Paul Specht rounding out the top five finishers for Wake Forest in 20th.

Last Year at the ACC Cross Country Championships
The Wake Forest men's cross country team claimed the 2024 ACC Cross Country Championship in Cary, N.C., marking the team's second title in the last three seasons, having also won the ACC Championship during the 2022 season. Five Demon Deacons earned All-ACC honors, including 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year JoJo Jourdon, who placed eighth in his first collegiate 8k race. Charlie Sprott, Aidan Ross, Joe O'Brien, and Luke Tewalt also earned All-ACC honors for the men's team.

Meanwhile, the women's team placed ninth in last year's 6k championship race. The Demon Deacons had two runners place inside the top-20, with Angelina Perez leading the way in 15th and Brooke Wilson placing 19th, earning them All-ACC honors.

Agent P
After earning All-ACC and All-Region honors during her first season with the Demon Deacons, Angelina Perez has become a rising star for the Deacs this season. The Ringwood, N.J., native has secured three top five finishes this season, including picking up her first collegiate victory at the Queen City Invite. Perez also finished runner up at the Arturo Barrios Invitational after recording a personal-best time of 19:05.4 on the 6k course, and secured a fourth place result at the highly competitive Gans Creek Classic.

Welcome to the Rocky Hansen Show
In his first race of the season, junior Rocky Hansen cruised to an individual title at the Panorama Farms Invitational. In the process, Hansen broke the Panorama Farms course record time en route to earning ACC Men's Performer of the Week. This marked the Hendersonville, N.C., native's fourth ACC weekly honor of his career and the most recent since earning both ACC Men's Performer and Men's Rookie of the Week honors during his freshman season.

Women's Program on the Rise
Under the direction of associate head coach Ashley Bastron, the Wake Forest women's cross country team is competing at a high level this season, having secured three top-10 finishes thus far. The Deacs have claimed three team victories this season, having placed first at the Queen City Invite, the Spartan Classic, and the Arturo Barrios Invitational. Wake Forest also earned a tenth place finish at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo., where the Demon Deacons had three runners place inside the top-50.

The John Hayes Era
Since arriving in Winston-Salem in 2016, Hayes has helped the men's cross country team grow into a national powerhouse. Under his leadership, the Demon Deacons have claimed two ACC titles in 2022 and 2024, resulting in Hayes earning ACC Coach of the Year honors both years. Hayes was also named USTFCCCA Southeast Region Coach Of The Year four of the last five seasons (2020-22, 2024).

Along with their success in the ACC, the Deacs have also earned a spot at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in five consecutive seasons, extending the longest streak in program history. During this five-year stretch, Wake Forest has finished inside the top-10 twice, including a fifth-place finish in 2022.

Over the course of his tenure with the Deacs, Hayes has produced six All-Americans, including Zach Facioni, the first three-time All-American in program history. Hayes has also coached four ACC Freshman of the Year performers, including back-to-back winners in Charlie Sprott (2023) and JoJo Jourdon (2024), and 14 All-ACC honorees.

Up Next
The Demon Deacons will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Meet on Friday, Nov. 14 at the Panorama Farms course in Earlysville, Va. The first and second place finishers of the regional meet will automatically qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, which will be held in Columbia, Mo. on Saturday, Nov. 22.
