Guilleme Secures NCAA Individual Championship Berth

The sophomore won his quarterfinal playoff match against Mans Dahlberg Sunday afternoon to become the third Demon Deacon to qualify for the NCAA singles draw.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Sophomore Joaquin Guilleme highlighted the week for Wake Forest men's tennis at the 2025 ITA East Sectionals in Chapel Hill, N.C., as he won a quarterfinal playoff match to secure an automatic berth in the 2025 NCAA Singles Championships, set for Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Guilleme opened his run with a straight-sets win over Cornell's Rodrigo Fernandes before rallying past Harvard's Valdemar Pape in three sets during the round of 16. He pushed through a tight quarterfinal loss to North Carolina's Niels Ratiu but rebounded in the playoff round to secure his NCAA qualification, marking a major milestone in his collegiate career.
Elsewhere in singles, Andrew Delgado reached the Round of 16 after defeating No. 56 Sean Daryabeigi (South Carolina) in a three-set comeback, while Kacper Szymkowiak earned a consolation win over NC State's Charlie Camus.
With the result, Guilleme joins DK Suresh Ekambaram and Luca Pow in representing Wake Forest at the NCAA Singles Championships, while Suresh and Delgado will team up in the doubles draw following their ITA All-American runner-up finish.
