From the Staff
"Great day for Wake Forest Track and Field. We had some pretty impressive performances of the day in SC and here in Boston. Obviously Rocky's 5k was the performance of the day. He almost definitely punched his ticket to the NCAA indoor championships and now has a USATF standard for August as he dominated a national level field by 6 seconds. We started off the day with Rynard in the 800m. It was his 800m opener. I'm quite confident that he can hit a national standard in 2 weeks. It was his fastest opener of his career! Paul had a great race as well. He ran away from the field in his race too. I think the pacing in the 3k was erratic but all of those young men hit personal bests. Looking at South Carolina Robbie continues to be very consistent. I'm confident she will pop a big one in the next few weeks. Our women dominated the mile. Many of them will go to Boston in two weeks and we should see some big marks. Bella won the shot and had another strong WT over 17 meters. Emma won big with a personal best in the 800m and came back with a nice leg on the DMR. There were many more strong marks. I anticipate a great weekend again in 2 weeks as we prepare for the championship season!" – Director of Track & Field and Cross Country John Hayes
"We saw a lot of great performances today, with several athletes achieving personal bests, season bests, and ACC qualifying marks. It's exciting to see the progress since our last competition, and I can't wait to see what this team continues to accomplish throughout the season." - Associate head coach Ashley Bastron
"I'm really pleased with the racing today. On the men's side I counted what I think was 12 personal best. The depth of this team is really special right now and is a testament to how hard these guys work every day with each other. The women's mid d squad ran fantastic as well. I'm proud of the way Rylan and Charlotte responded mid race even when it was not playing out how we planned it to. Charlotte was rewarded with a win and a new PR and Rylan knocked 5 seconds off her PB. Emma crushed her season opener with a new PB and a definitive win. All 3 will be ready to make the next jump when we race again in Boston in two weeks." - Assistant coach Brandon Hazouri
"Our team is making steady progress and demonstrating improved consistency across various events. Robbie Grace, for instance, has been a rock for our team and consistently pushes her boundaries, delivering exceptional performances in the long jump. Our athletes are hungry for more continued success, and with each passing competition, they're becoming more and more confident in their abilities." - Assistant coach Ryan Grinnell
"The throwers had a good day overall. Bella's win and season best in the shot was a highlight today. I'm looking forward to some bigger performances next weekend at JDL." - Associate head coach Collin Post
