Wake Forest Primed to Finish Regular Season at Boston University

Four Demon Deacons will close out the regular season competing in the Distance Medley Relay in Boston, Mass., on Friday, Feb. 21.

WINSTON-SALEM N.C. - Wake Forest men's track and field will close out the regular-season indoor campaign on Friday, Feb. 21, with a trip back to Boston, Mass., for the Terrier Distance Medley/Last Chance Meet.

Competing for the Deacs Trailblazers on the Track
Heading into the Terrier DMR/Last Chance Meet, Wake Forest men's track and field ranks No. 6 in the 5000-meter and No. 9 in the Southeast Region, announced by the USTFCCCA office on Feb. 18.

Rocky Hansen, fresh off an explosive performance at the BU Terrier Classic on Feb. 1, will return to the track for the DMR. Hansen clocked a remarkable personal-best time of 13:14.43 in his first-ever indoor 5000m, setting a new Wake Forest Indoor All-Time Record.

The sophomore currently leads the ACC and ranks No. 8 nationally in the men's 5000m.

Earlier in the season, Hansen dominated at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., taking the top spot in the mile with a swift 3:57.90.

Joining Hansen in the relay is Rynard Swanepoel, who delivered an impressive personal-best 1:47.44 in the 800m at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., last weekend. The performance pushed Swanepoel to No. 4 in the ACC and No. 35 nationally.

Also in the mix is Paul Specht, who notched a personal-best time of 3:55.10 in the mile at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston on Feb. 14, finishing 11th in a stacked field. Specht enters the weekend ranked No. 6 in the ACC and No. 32 nationally.

Foster Shelbert rounds out the lineup after a strong 800m performance at the Darius Dixon Invitational on Feb. 14, where he crossed the line in 1:53.02.
