Wake Forest Drops Middle Game against Boston College
4/18/2025 9:47:00 PM | Baseball
The rubber game of the series is set for tomorrow at noon.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest baseball team fell, 7-2, in game two of the series against Boston College on Friday night at David F. Couch Ballpark.
Freshman Luke Costello stayed hot with his fifth double of the season to lead off the third inning, while also reaching base on a walk.
Third baseman Kade Lewis singled in the bottom of the fifth and has hit safely in 35 of 39 games in his debut season for the Demon Deacons.
On the mound, starter Logan Lunceford was effective, allowing just two hits with six strikeouts over 4.2 innings.
Reliever Rhys Bowie allowed just one hit over his 1.1 innings of work, striking out a pair of Boston College hitters. Bowie was joined by a scoreless 1.1 innings of relief from sophomore Josh Gunther.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FROM COACH WALTER
"We gave up seven runs on three hits. In the inning they scored four, they got one hit. In the inning they scored three, they got one hit, and that was with two outs. We are just obviously walking too many guys. We had our chances during the third inning with guys on first and second and nobody out. We had a chance to put up a big number on that guy [Brady Miller], and we just had three poor at-bats in a row. It's a disappointing day. I've got to do more to help this team. We just don't play from behind very well. We haven't done that well all year, and that's on me. I've got to prepare these guys better, and we have to get tougher and be able to play from behind. I think that's the difference between us being really good and us fighting for our lives. Right now, we are fighting for our lives, and I have to do more to help us play better from behind." - Head Coach Tom Walter
