Demon Deacons Back on Road for Two-Meet Weekend

After a weekend at home in Winston-Salem, the Demon Deacons have two meets on the schedule, traveling to Philadelphia, Pa., and Charlotte, N.C.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Following a successful third annual Wake Forest Invitational, the Demon Deacons will hit the road with one group traveling to the University of Pennsylvania for the Penn Relays, April 24–26, and another group heading to Charlotte, N.C., for the Charlotte Invitational, April 25–26.

Competing for the Deacs (Penn Relays) Competing for the Deacs (Charlotte Invitational) Deacs Lead the Field
Seniors Isabella Gera and Jacob Goldberg will kick off Wake Forest's competition at the Penn Relays on Thursday, with Gera set to compete in the hammer throw at 2 p.m., followed by Goldberg at 5 p.m.

Both Demon Deacons are fresh off performances at the Wake Forest Invitational, where Gera placed eighth with a mark of 53.86 meters. Goldberg also finished eighth, throwing 55.85 meters.

Gera will return to action Friday in both the shot put and discus, competing at 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively. In her most recent outing in the shot put, Gera placed third with a personal-best throw of 15.66 meters, moving her to No. 4 on Wake Forest's all-time list.

Julia Pinter, who ranks No. 6 on the program's all-time list, will conclude Friday's events for the Deacons in the javelin.

On Saturday, Rosalind Gergely will wrap up the Penn Relays for Wake Forest in the javelin at 1:30 p.m. Gergely currently ranks fifth on the school's all-time list.

On the Hunt

Back in North Carolina, the Demon Deacons are set to compete at the Charlotte Invitational.

Freshman Kristyna Peterova is set to compete in the hammer throw. In her most recent appearance at the Wake Forest Invitational, Peterova recorded a personal-best distance of 52.27m, placing 11th.

On the track, freshman Aria Wegh returns to action in the 400m hurdles after placing fifth at the Wake Forest Invitational with a time of 1:00.44.

Joining Wegh and making her outdoor season debut, junior Elizabeth Whaley is scheduled to race in the 1500m.

Whaley stood out during the 2024–25 indoor campaign. At the Eagle Elite Invitational, she clocked a personal-best 4:41.09 in the mile to finish 13th. Most recently, at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Whaley helped lead the Deacs to a win in the distance medley relay, with the squad finishing in 11:15.50.
