No. 4 Demon Deacons Sweep Queens and NC Wesleyan at Home

Wake Forest will now turn its attention to a rematch against No. 6 Baylor on Sunday.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In the first of two doubleheaders this weekend, the No. 4-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team secured a pair of 7-0 victories over Queens and NC Wesleyan Friday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
The match against the Royals served as the first outdoor match of the 2026 campaign before moving inside against the Battling Bishops.
The Demon Deacons (10-2, 0-0 ACC) extended their home winning streak to a stellar 34 matches dating back to April of 2024. Since 2013, Wake Forest leads the nation in home wins with 230 and ranks second during that span in total wins with 366.
After taking the doubles point in both matches Friday afternoon, the Deacs have now opened with a 1-0 lead in nine of its 12 matches to start the season.
In the first match, all three Wake Forest doubles teams secured wins highlighted by a dominant 6-0 victory on court two from freshmen duo Mees Rottgering and Aryan Shah over Cooley/Scala. Not long after, the British pair of sophomore Charlie Robertson and junior Luca Pow clinched the point with a 6-2 win against Jimenez/Villen.
Redshirt freshman Andrew Delgado and freshman Dominick Mosejczuk teamed up in both matches Friday and secured a pair of 6-3 wins to move to 3-0 as a pair this season.
Sophomores Joaquin Guilleme and Cornelius Shalmi paired up against NC Wesleyan's Patrawala/Cardestig for their first-ever win together shortly after Pow and sophomore Ariel Zauber did the same on court three against Sitwell/Villafane.
In singles against Queens, Rottgering improved to 7-2 as a Demon Deacon with a 6-4, 6-2 win on court two over Noe Villen while Robertson picked up his fifth win of the year against Gavin Ryan (6-2, 6-1).
Four Demon Deacons earned multiple singles wins on the day, including No. 65-ranked Shah who is now 3-1 in the Old Gold & Black and beginning to find his stride at the collegiate level. Pow also bounced back with two convincing wins to bring his win total to six on the year.
After sliding into the lineup last Sunday and delivering against TCU, Mosejczuk continued the incredible start to his career and his now 5-0 for Wake Forest after a 6-0, 6-0 win over Tanner Cooley (Queens) and a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Farhaan Patrawala (NC Wesleyan).
Delgado, the No. 76-ranked player in the country, also remained perfect in 2026 with two wins in straight-sets against Filippo Scala (Queens) and Martin Cardestig (NC Wesleyan).
The team leader in wins, Guilleme, returned to the lineup in the second match and cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win against Albert Sitwell on court three for his ninth victory of the season. Shalmi also re-entered the lineup and moved to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Diego Villafane on court six.

How It Happened (Queens)
- In doubles, all three Wake Forest pairs went up a break immediately and didn't look back.
- On court two, Shah/Rottgering cruised to a 6-0 victory followed by Pow/Robertson (6-2) and Delgado/Mosejczuk (6-3) on courts three and two, respectively.
- Mosejczuk came out firing in singles, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory in just 45 minutes and doubled the Deacs advantage.
- Shortly after, Robertson extended the lead to 3-0 with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win on court four before Pow clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory on court three.
- Delgado added another point with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph on court five, followed by Shah (6-3, 7-5) and Rottgering (6-4, 6-2) completing the sweep on courts one and two with straight-set wins to cap a perfect outing for the Demon Deacons.

How It Happened (NC Wesleyan)
- Similar to the first match, the Demon Deacon pairs took control early and went on to win all three doubles courts.
- Pow/Zauber struck first with a 6-2 win before Delgado/Mosejczuk and Guilleme/Shalmi both secured 6-3 victories.
- Delgado wasted no time extending the lead, delivering a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory on court five to put the Deacs ahead 2-0.
- Shalmi followed shortly after with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win on court six before Pow earned a convincing 6-1, 6-0 triumph on court two to push the lead to 4-0 and clinch the match.
- Guilleme added another point with a strong 6-1, 6-1 victory on court three before Shah earned a 6-1, 6-1 win on court one.
- Mosejczuk capped off the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win on court four, completing Wake Forest's second 7-0 victory of the afternoon.
