Sikes Finishes Fifth At NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. - Wake Forest junior Michelle Sikes closed out the NCAA Championships with a fifth-place finish in the 5,000 meters, running a time of 16:12.14, Friday evening at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex. The finish earned her All-American honors for the first time in her career.
The Lakewood, Ohio native becomes the 19th Demon Deacon and the only this season to earn All-American honors.
Sikes, who entered the final of the championship meet as the eighth seed, closes the season with the second fastest 5,000 meter time in Wake Forest history, which she ran at the NCAA East Regionals.
In addition, Sikes finished third at the ACC Championships in the same event, garnering All-ACC accolades.
