Demon Deacons Compete at Royals Cross Country Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Wake Forest was back in action for the first time in three weeks Friday as the Demon Deacons ran at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte. The women's team led the way with a second-place finish, while the men's squad came in 20th.
Kathryn Lazarchick paced the Deacs Friday as she finished fifth overall in the women's 5k with a time of 17:45.5. Isabelle Harouche was the second Demon Deacon to cross the finish line, as the sophomore finished in 19th (18:04.3).
Two Deacs finished within three seconds of each other as Beatrice Boylan (18:28.4) and Kathryn Kenwood (18:31.7) claimed 27th and 29th place, respectively. Kaitlin Derry rounded out the Wake Forest scoring, finishing 41st (18:48.8)
On the men's side, Peter Millsaps posted the top finish, finishing the 8k course in a time of 25:54.6 to finish 54th. Junior Andrew Fea was the next Deac to cross the line, posting a time of 26:26.0 which placed him 95th overall. Alex Delgado (27:14.8), Nicholas Raefski (27:21.1) and Jack McGowen (27:41.1) rounded out the Wake Forest scoring effort Friday.
The Deacs are back in action next Saturday, October 15, as Wake Forest travels to Terre Haute, Indiana, for the Pre-National Invitational.
