PHILADELPHIA, PENN. – A late goal in double overtime by Penn's Rachel Mirkin lifted the Quakers over Wake Forest (1-2) 1-0 at the Conference Crossover in Philadelphia.

The Deacs out-shot Penn (1-0) 7-3 and held a 3-2 advantage on shots on goal, but Mirkin's backhand shot slipped past Wake keeper Cat O'Connor at the 86th minute to seal the first win of the season for the Quakers.

Both defenses were on display as the Deacons only got one shot off in the first period, and held Penn shotless. Wake came out of the locker room in the second period and posted three shots, while Penn tallied two. The Deacons had the advantage in the first overtime frame with two shots and each team recorded one in the second overtime period, but only Penn could convert the goal.

Jule Grashoff led the team with three shots, while Alexis Grippo posted two shots, both on goal and Megan Anderson added one. However, Wake Forest's offense struggled to shake Penn goalkeeper Ava Rosati who made three saves.

Up next, the Deacons will face No. 10 Princeton on Sunday at 11 a.m., to close out the Conference Crossover. The Tigers will be Wake Forest's second top-10 opponent in just three matches.
