Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons earned their fifth-consecutive victory and second shutout of the last three games by blanking Sacred Heart on Tuesday, 9-0.
• Wake Forest pitchers Antonio Menendez, Tyler Witt, Cole McNamee, Shane Smith and Brennen Oxford combined to throw a one-hitter, retiring the last 20 batters of the game.
• Offensively, Derek Crum was 2-for-3 with a double and his first-career homer, while DJ Poteet added his first longball of the season in a five-run second inning.

Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest returns seven starters from one of the top offenses in the country. The Demon Deacons led the ACC in scoring last year with 7.8 runs per game.
• The Demon Deacons feature a trio of preseason All-Americans. Bobby Seymour was the ACC Player of the Year a season ago, while Chris Lanzilli is also a returning All-American. Shane Muntz was recognized by the NCBWA as a second team preseason All-American at DH.
• Compared to this point in the 2019 season, the Deacs have taken a leap forward statistically across the board. The Deacs have improved the team average (.277 to .295), home runs (12 to 19), fielding percentage (.960 to .977), ERA (5.09 to 3.55), opponent average (.251 to .208) and walks allowed per game (4.7 to 3.6).

Opponent & Series History
• Wake Forest is 3-14 all-time against the Cardinals, who have won four straight in the series. However, the Deacs won the last series in Winston-Salem in 2018, two games to one.
• The Cardinals have earned eight-straight wins following a 1-3 start to the season. Reigning ACC Pitcher of the Year Reid Detmers anchors the pitching staff after going 13-4 with a 2.78 ERA and 167 strikeouts last year.
• Louisville is batting .324 as a team, 100 points higher than its opponents. Henry Davis is leading the way with a .394 average.
