Last Time Out
The Deacs fought their way back from a first-period deficit following a score from the Orange as Hannah Maxwell tied the match at one after making a diving effort, flipping the ball into the back of the net with a little over two minutes left in the third.

Following strong and aggressive defensive effort from the Deacs over the next 15 minutes of game action, Syracuse ultimately took hold of a 2-1 lead after a penalty stroke with two minutes and 47 seconds left in regulation.

Opponent & Series History
The Demon Deacons and Tar Heels have matched up 81 times prior to Friday's contest, with Wake Forest trailing the all-time series 21-57-3.

Wake Forest and Davidson have also been familiar foes. The Deacs have won 36 of 55 matchups and head into Sunday on a 25-match win streak against the Wildcats dating back to the 1993 season.

Lanckohr Among Nation's Best Goal Scorers
Junior All-American Meike Lanckohr has led the Wake Forest offense all season long, tallying eight goals in 10 games. Heading into Friday's match, Lanckohr's eight goals rank tied for second in the ACC and tied for 21st in the nation. Lanckohr has found the back of the net in six of Wake Forest's first 11 matches to open the season, including three of the last five.

On Tuesday, Sept. 21, Lanckohr was named the ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Lanckohr led Wake Forest's offensive attack with a trio of goals in back-to-back wins over top-25 opponents in No. 17 Duke and No. 21 UMass.

In the Deacs' ACC opener against the Blue Devils on Friday, Sept. 17, Lanckohr netted two first-half goals in the 3-1 victory, her second multi-goal performance of her career. On Sunday, Sept. 19, the Voerendaal, Netherlands native found the back of the net for the Deacs' first goal of the game.

Glaister a Mainstay in Goal
Tori Glaister earned her fifth win of the season against Miami (OH) on Oct. 3 as the London, England native was credited with a trio of saves, including a pair in the opening 10 minutes of game action. This season, Glaister has made four saves on three separate occasions and has tallied at least two stops in 16 of her last 17 starts.

Additionally, Glaister and the Demon Deacon defense continues to be solid at the halfway mark of the season as Wake Forest has now allowed two or less goals in nine of their first 11 matchups to open the 2021 campaign.

The Streak Continues
Wake Forest was ranked No. 15 in the seventh National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll of the 2021 season, marking the 34th-straight poll the Deacs have been ranked. The eighth top-25 poll will be released on Oct.19.

Last season, the Deacs rose all the way to No. 9, it's highest NHFCA ranking in school history.

The Demon Deacons close out the road portion of their regular season slate with non-conference matchups at VCU (Friday, Oct. 22) and Richmond (Sunday, Oct. 24).

Wake Forest welcomes Boston College in their regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 29 at 4:00 p.m. inside Kentner Stadium. Prior to the match, the Deacs will honor seniors for their contributions to the Wake Forest field hockey program
