
No. 15 Wake Forest Caps Off Weekend With 2-1 Victory at Miami (OH)

Maggie Dickman and Meike Lanckohr tallied goals, while the Demon Deacons defense allowed just one goal for the third time this season.
OXFORD. Ohio. -  The No. 15 Wake Forest field hockey team picked up their fifth win of the season on Sunday, defeating Miami (OH) 2-1 at the Miami Field Hockey Complex in Oxford, Ohio.  
Offensively, the Deacs (5-5, 1-2 ACC) were led by Maggie Dickman and Meike Lanckohr, who netted the first two goals of the match. The Redhawks (6-7, 3-0 MAC) made it a one-score game just before the end of third period before stifling defense, highlighted by a Tori Glaister save with less than four minutes remaining, secured Wake Forest a 2-1 victory. 
Dickman's first period goal was her second of the weekend and the third of her junior season, while Lanckohr increased her season total to eight, a team high. Additionally, Eleanor Winants dished out her first assist of the season on Dickman's goal.
Glaister earned her fifth win of the season as the London, England native made her 15th-straight start at goalie. Glaister was credited with a trio of saves, including a pair in the opening 10 minutes of game action. 
Overall, Wake Forest outshot Miami (OH) by a tally of 12-8, while the Redhawks posted a 6-2 advantage in penalty corners.
The Demon Deacon defense continued to be solid as Wake Forest has now allowed two goals or less in eight of their first 10 matches to open the season. 
How It Happened

	Tori Glaister denied Miami's first shot attempt with 10 minutes remaining in the first period. 
- 
	Just four minutes later, Glaister made another stop as the Deacs stopped the Redhawks' first penalty corner opportunity. 
- 
	The Deacs took hold of a 1-0 lead as Maggie Dickman found the back of the net following a pass from Eleanor Winants with 45 seconds remaining in the first. - 
		Prior to Dickman's goal, Winants took Wake Forest's first shot attempt

	Action picked up six minutes into the second period as Nat Friedman fired Wake Forest's second shot of the match. Miami's goalie was credited with a save as Wake Forest continued to lead 1-0.

	Wake Forest took their 1-0 lead into halftime after a scoreless second period.

	At the intermission, the Deacs and Redhawks were tied in shots (three) and saves (two). Miami's corner opportunity at the nine-minute mark was the lone penalty opportunity by either squad in the opening 30 minutes of game action.

	Wake Forest opened the second half with their second goal of the match as Meike Lanckohr doubled the Demon Deacon lead (2-0) at the 33-minute mark. - 
		Prior to Lanckohr's goal, Grace Delmotte took Wake Forest's first penalty corner of the match.

		Lanckohr's initial shot attempt was saved by Miami's goalkeeper before she was able to net her eighth goal of the season.

	Wake Forest continued to be the aggressors as Wake Forest fired off three shots in a two-minute span after Lanckohr's goal.

	The Demon Deacon defense denied a pair of Redhawk corners with five minutes left in the third to hold onto their 2-0 lead. - 
		Miami's first shot attempt of the second half was blocked following their third corner opportunity.

	Miami capitalized on another corner opportunity with a little over a minute remaining in the third period as Wake Forest took a 2-1 lead into the final frame.

	After a penalty stroke by Wake Forest was saved, the Deacs responded with a defensive stop on a Miami corner as the Redhawks' ensuing shot was blocked with just under nine minutes left in regulation.

	The Deacs had a trio of offensive opportunities at the 53-minute mark, but could not find the back of the net as Wake Forest continued to lead 2-1. - 
		Nat Friedman had a pair of shot attempts, while Dickman's second shot of the match was saved.

	With just under four minutes remaining, Glaister made her third save of the game to secure a 2-1 victory for the Demon Deacons. - 
		Miami was awarded their fourth penalty corner of the match, which set up their final offensive opportunity of the match.

The Women's Center and Athletics have partnered to host a "Wake for Women's Tailgate" prior to the conference contest that will include free food, music, activities and tee shirts. In celebration, the field hockey program is set to welcome former Demon Deacons back to Winston-Salem.
