No. 15 Wake Forest Closes Road Stand at No. 7 Syracuse on Friday

The Demon Deacons head to Syracuse looking for their second conference victory of the season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 15 Wake Forest field hockey team looks to end their three-game road stand on a high note against No. 7 Syracuse on Friday, Oct. 8 at 6:00 p.m.
The Deacs' (5-5, 1-2 ACC) search for their second conference win against the Orange (8-2, 2-0 ACC) can be viewed live on ACC Network Extra.

Last Time Out
Wake Forest picked up their fifth win of the season on Sunday, defeating Miami (OH) 2-1 on Oct. 3.
Offensively, the Deacs were led by Maggie Dickman and Meike Lanckohr, who netted the first two goals of the match. The Redhawks made it a one-score game just before the end of third period before stifling defense, highlighted by a Tori Glaister save with less than four minutes remaining, secured Wake Forest a 2-1 victory.
Dickman's first period goal was her second of the weekend and the third of her junior season, while Lanckohr increased her season total to eight, a team high. Additionally, Eleanor Winants dished out her first assist of the season on Dickman's goal.
Glaister earned her fifth win of the season as the London, England native made her 15th-straight start at goalie. Glaister was credited with a trio of saves, including a pair in the opening 10 minutes of game action.
Opponent & Series History
Wake Forest and Syracuse have faced off 12 times prior to this year's matchup as the Orange led the all-time series 7-5. Syracuse comes into 2021 on a three-match win streak.
The Demon Deacons' lone win at J.S. Coyne Field came on Sept. 16, 2017, earning a 2-1 win in overtime.
Lanckohr Among Nation's Best Goal Scorers
Junior All-American Meike Lanckohr has led the Wake Forest offense all season long, tallying eight goals in 10 games. Heading into Friday's match, Lanckohr's eight goals rank tied for second in the ACC and tied for 13th in the nation. Lanckohr has found the back of the net in six of Wake Forest's first 10 matches to open the season, including three of the last four.
On Tuesday, Sept. 21, Lanckohr was named the ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Lanckohr led Wake Forest's offensive attack with a trio of goals in back-to-back wins over top-25 opponents in No. 17 Duke and No. 21 UMass.
In the Deacs' ACC opener against the Blue Devils on Friday, Sept. 17, Lanckohr netted two first-half goals in the 3-1 victory, her second multi-goal performance of her career. On Sunday, Sept. 19, the Voerendaal, Netherlands native found the back of the net for the Deacs' first goal of the game.
Glaister a Mainstay in Goal
Tori Glaister earned her fifth win of the season against Miami (OH) on Oct. 3 as the London, England native was credited with a trio of saves, including a pair in the opening 10 minutes of game action. Against Louisville two days prior, Glaister made a season-high tying four saves for the second time this season. In 14 of her last 15 starts, Glaister has recorded at least two saves.
Additionally, Glaister and the Demon Deacon defense continues to be solid at the halfway mark of the season as Wake Forest has now allowed two or less goals in eight of their first 10 matchups to open the 2021 campaign.
The Streak Continues
Wake Forest was ranked No. 15 in the sixth National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll of the 2021 season, marking the 33rd-straight poll the Deacs have been ranked. The seventh top-25 poll will be released on Oct.12.
Last season, the Deacs rose all the way to No. 9, it's highest NHFCA ranking in school history.
On Deck
The Deacs return to Kentner Stadium on Oct. 15 for against No. 9 North Carolina.
The Women's Center and Athletics have partnered to host a "Wake for Women's Tailgate" prior to the conference contest that will include free food, music, activities, and tee shirts. In celebration, the field hockey program is set to welcome former Demon Deacons back to Winston-Salem.
