Squire, Nava Ready for NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships

ORLANDO, FLA. – Wake Forest men's tennis senior Eduardo Nava and sophomore Henri Squire learned their opponents in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships with the release of both brackets Saturday. The events at the USTA National Campus begin on Sun., May 23, with matches streaming on the TennisONE app.
In the 64-player singles event, national-seeded Squire with open with No. 48 Florian Broska of Mississippi State at 3 p.m. on Sunday. No. 40 Nava opens his tournament at 7 p.m. that day against No. 11 Matias Soto of Baylor, he will play in the title match Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The 32-team doubles event will start on Tue., May 24, with No. 12 Nava/Squire facing the No. 1 team in the country Finn Reynolds and Tim Sandkaulen of Ole Miss. Times for doubles matches will be announced at a later date.
Both Demon Deacons are making their individual championship debuts following All-ACC seasons. Squire became the ninth Demon Deacon since 2007 to enter the event seeded, following the 2018 event that saw fourth-seeded Petros Chrysochos and seventh-seeded Borna Gojo go on to play in the title match.
Squire is the fifth rookie Demon Deacon to nab the Freshman of the Year award for Wake Forest and this marks his first All-ACC award of his career. The Düsseldorf, Germany native, brings a 17-6 singles record into the event with eight wins over nationally ranked opponents.
Nava is 17-3 on the season in singles, including three ranked wins with one of those against a top-20 foe. He was 4-0 in three-set matches and ended the season with an 11 consecutive wins.
In doubles, the duo is 13-5 on the season and rose as high as No. 11 in the rankings, finishing the dual season with four ranked wins. The best win of the season came over then-No. 20 Garrett Johns and Sean Sculley of Duke.
