
No. 14 Wake Forest Drops Non-Conference Battle With Ohio State

Meike Lanckohr is now tied for the team lead in goals with three.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 14 Wake Forest field hockey team fell to Ohio State by a final score of 2-1 on Friday evening at Kentner Stadium.
Wake Forest (1-3) played the aggressor much of the match as the Deacs outshot the Buckeyes (4-1) by a tally of 21-8. After a successful penalty corner in the first period from junior All-American Meike Lanckohr, Ohio State found the back of the net in the second and third periods to secure the non-conference victory by a one-goal margain. 
The Deacs continued to fight over the final 15 minutes, registering 10 shots and four penalty corners while holding the Buckeyes to zero shot attempts.
All three of Lanckohr's team-high tying goals this season have come off penalty corners. On the successful score, Elisha Evans was credited with her team-best fourth assist on the year, while Hannah Maxwell registered her first assist of her sophomore campaign.
Tori Glaister made her eighth-straight start in the goal for Wake Forest, registering a season-high tying three saves. 
How It Happened

	Meike Lanckohr capitalized on the first penalty corner of the game to put the Deacons up 1-0 with 4:16 left in the first period. - 
		Hannah Maxwell took the penalty corner and fired a pass to Elisha Evans before dishing it to Lanckohr for the goal.

		Wake Forest gave up just one shot on goal in the opening 15 minutes of play.

	The teams headed into intermission locked at 1 after Ohio State rebounded a Tori Glaister save into the back of net following a corner opportunity with under a minute remaining in the first half. - 
		At halftime, Wake Forest tallied nine shots to OSU's five. Additionally, the Deacons had six shots on goal to Ohio State's three. It is also the third time this season the Deacs have held an opponent to three shots or less at halftime.

		Tori Glaister recorded two saves through the first 30 minutes.

	Ohio State took the lead with under five minutes remaining in the third period after a rebound from an unsuccessful penalty corner that opened up the net.

	In the final period, Wake Forest controlled the ball and played much of the stanza on the home half of the turf. The Deacs tallied four penalty corners as well as a scoring opportunity in the circle following a diving steal by Hannah Maxwell but ultimately couldn't connect to force overtime, ultimately falling to the Buckeyes by a final score of 2-1.
