
No. 15 Demon Deacons Complete Perfect Weekend with 3-2 Victory over No. 21 UMass

The Deacs posted their third-straight victory, highlighting back-to-back wins over ranked opponents.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 15 Wake Forest field hockey team collected their second ranked victory of the weekend, taking down No. 21 UMass 3-2 at Kentner Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Deacs (4-3, 1-0 ACC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to an aggressive offensive attack, outshooting UMass 27-10 in the match and recording 13 corner opportunities to UMass' four. A two-goal fourth period helped the Minutewomen (5-3, 1-0 A10) narrow Wake Forest's lead. Undaunted, the Deacs secured the 3-2 victory with defensive intensity in the final minutes.
Meike Lanckohr recorded her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the first period following a penalty corner taken by Grace Delmotte. The goal was Lanckohr's third score in the last two games.
Elisha Evans made a diving effort to deflect the ball into the back of the net for Wake Forest's second goal. The goal was Evans' third of the season, while Grace Delmotte was credited with her fifth assist of the season, setting a new team high. The third and final Demon Deacon goal was netted by Ashley Arnold off a penalty stroke in the third period, her second collegiate goal.
In net, Tori Glaister recorded her fourth win in 2021, tallying a season-high four saves. In her last 13 starts, Glaister has recorded at least two saves.
Wake Forest has outshot their opponents by a 103-38 margin over the last five games. Additionally, Wake Forest hasn't conceded more than two goals in six out of their first seven contests to open the 2021 campaign.

The Deacs took their 2-0 advantage into intermission as they continued to dominate the stat line, outshooting the Minutewomen 17-2 in the first half. Tori Glaister saved UMass' lone shot on goal of the half with just minutes remaining.
