LAST TIME OUT
Despite winning the doubles point and grabbing victories on courts three and five in singles play, the Wake Forest team's upset bid fell just short at No. 1 Tennessee, 4-3, on Sunday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.

The loss is the first for Wake Forest when winning the doubles point this year and marked Tennessee's second-straight 4-3 victory over a ranked opponent.

After Melios Efstathiou tied the match at 3-3, No. 75 Filippo Moroni forced a third set and battled in a barn burner with No. 51 Emile Hudd. Hudd would eventually take it in tiebreaker, 6-4, 3-6. 7-6 (4) to clinch the match.

HOME DOMINANCE
Since head coach Tony Bresky took over the reins in 2011, the Wake Forest men's tennis team has boasted a 156-23 mark in Winston-Salem. Since the 2016-17 season, the Demon Deacons have posted a remarkable 86-4 record in the friendly confines of the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.

RANKED DEACS
Finding themselves in the singles rankings were Filippo Moroni (75), Jakob Schnaitter (85), Taha Baadi (100) and Robert Maciag (117). In doubles, Siddhant Banthia was ranked twice as Banthia and Schnaitter were at No. 19, Maciag and Ben Draper were No. 26 and Banthia and Juan Lopez de Azcona claimed No. 50.

SIX NEWCOMERS
The Deacs welcome six newcomers to the 2022 squad, three by way of transfer and three freshmen. Vikas Deo, Adam Duan and Togan Makzume serve as Wake Forest's trio of freshmen, while transfers Ben Draper (California), Jakob Schnaitter (Azusa Pacific) and Jurabek Karimov (Uzbekistan) each call Winston-Salem home.

SCOUTING NO. 16 MICHIGAN
Wake Forest and Michigan are tied 6-6 in the all-time series, having last met in 2016 at the NCAA Regional in Winston-Salem. The Deacs advanced with a 4-2 win.

Michigan is 2-0 in dual-match action, with wins over Virginia Tech and Western Michigan. The Wolverines moved up one place to No. 16 in this week's ITA Coaches Poll. The Wolverines are 11-2 in dual singles matches and 1-1 in winning the doubles point.

Singles Rankings:
  • No. 43 Gavin Young
  • No. 67 Jacob Bickersteth
Doubles Rankings:
  • No. 43 Nino Ehrenschneider and Andrew Fenty
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
Notre Dame opened the season two weeks ago with sweeps of Saint Louis. The Irish have advanced to National Indoors three times in Coach Sachire's tenure as head coach. The most recent trip was in the spring of 2019 after defeating Vanderbilt and host Oklahoma. They also advanced in 2018 and 2014.

SCOUTING SMU
The Mustangs currently stand at 3-1 for the season with wins over Prairie View A&M and Purdue. SMU lost an extremely close 4-3 match to Texas Tech this past weekend.
Adam Neff and Liam Krall are each on three match winning streaks in singles. Krall is 3-0 in dual singles and 2-0 in dual doubles so far this season. He has been primarily playing No. 2 singles, while Neff plays No. 3.
