Wake Forest Turns Attention to Postseason with ACC Tournament Match against No. 2 Duke

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team prepares for the 2023 ACC Field Hockey Championship with a showdown against No.2 Duke on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at Turf Field on the campus of the University of Virginia.
ACC Network will show all tournament action live, with Leah Secondo and Suzanne Bush on the call. Admission is free for the 2023 ACC Championship. All seating is general admission, first come, first served. Parking is also free at John Paul Jones Arena.
Wake Forest Highlights
• The Deacs are averaging 4.67 saves a game ranking first in the ACC while Ellie Todd is first among league keepers with 4.13 SPG. Todd ranks second in the league with 62 saves on the season. The Demon Deacons are tied for first in the ACC with six shutouts through 14 matches of the 2023 campaign while the .400 Sho/G ranks first as well.
• Faye Janse (17th) and Nat Friedman (23rd) rank in the top 25 of the ACC in shots per game with Janse averaging 1.80 with Friedman behind her with 1.40 per game.
• Wake Forest won their final four nonconference games of the season with all four victories coming away from Kentner Stadium.
• Sophomore Amelia Frey became the first Demon Deacon to net three goals in a game since Hannah Maxwell against Boston College on Oct. 10, 2022 in Sunday's win over Colgate, while freshman Faye Janse finished with two assists marking the first time a Demon Deacon has done so since Meike Lanckohr and Grace Delmotte against Syracuse on Oct. 28, 2022.

• Wake Forest is 37-47 all-time against the Blue Devils, having fallen earlier this season, 3-0, in Durham.
• The two teams last met in the ACC Tournament a season ago with Wake Forest beating Duke 1-0.
• The Deacs and Blue Devils have faced off 16 times in the first round of the tournament with Wake holding a 10-6 advantage.

• In their final regular season contest, the Wake Forest field hockey team put together their best offensive performance of the season with a season-high 23 shots to defeat Colgate 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Tyler's Field.
• Entering the contest having yet to score in her young Wake Forest career, Amelia Frey left the match with three goals, scoring once in the third quarter and twice in the fourth for the hat trick. Freshman Faye Janse assisted on both in the final quarter for the first two-assist match of her Wake career. Mia Schoenbeck got the Deacs (8-8, 1-5 ACC) on the board in the second quarter with her second goal of her freshman season.
• In cage, Ellie Todd faced just four shots, coming away with one save on a Colgate (3-14, 0-6 Patriot) penalty corner attack. For the fifth time this season, Wake's defense kept an opponent under five shots.
• Wake finished nonconference action with four-straight victories with all four wins coming away from Kentner Stadium.

With a win, Wake Forest would take on the Louisville/Boston College winner at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.
