No. 7 Wake Forest Faces No. 18 Louisville and Miami (OH) this Weekend

The Demon Deacons are on the road Friday against the Cardinals before returning to Kentner Stadium to face the RedHawks.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –  Winners of seven straight, No. 7 Wake Forest field hockey travels to No. 18 Louisville before returning home to face Miami (OH) this weekend.

Push back against the Cardinals on Friday, October 3 is set for 6:30 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.

Wake Forest and Miami (OH) are set for a Noon ET start on Sunday, October 5 on ACC Network Extra.

Opponent History
Wake Forest is 15-9 all-time against Louisville, with the last two meetings resulting in a loss in strokes (2023) and a double-overtime win (2022).
 
The Demon Deacons are 7-1 against the RedHawks with Miami picking up its first win in the series the last time the two teams met in 2023. 

Wake Forest Highlights
  • The Demon Deacons (7-2, 3-0 ACC) enter Friday having won seven consecutive matches while outscoring their opponents 26-5 during that span.
    • A win against the Cardinals would give Wake Forest its longest winning streak since 2011. 
      • It would also mark the first 4-0 start to ACC play since 2005. 
  • Entering the first week of October, Wake Forest leads the ACC in shots with 194. 
    • The Deacs lead the ACC by 18 shots with North Carolina the next closest at 176. 
    • Wake Forest is averaging the most shots on goal per game in the ACC with 12.22. 
    • Over the seven-game streak, the Demon Deacons are outshooting opponents 172 to 60.
      • The 39 shots against UMass Lowell marked the most in a game for Wake Forest since at least the 2018 season. 
  • Wake ranks second in the ACC with 69 penalty corners so far this season. 
  • Junior Mia Schoenbeck ranks fifth in the conference with nine goals through the first nine matches.
    • The LaGrange, Ky. native's biggest goal of the season thus far came in double overtime to help the Demon Deacons take down No. 2 North Carolina for the first time since 2017. 
    • She added a trio of braces in Wake's wins against Davidson, Longwood and UMass Lowell. 
    • Schoenbeck ranks fifth in shots with 38 and tied for fifth in shots on goal with 20 among ACC student-athletes.
  • Sophomore Lauren Storey leads the conference in both shots (55) and shots on goal (36).
    • She netted her first hat trick of the year against Longwood and added another against UMass Lowell. 
    • She is one of just three ACC athletes to have multiple three-goal games so far this season. 
    • Additionally, she is one of just four in the conference to have scored double-digit goals so far this season, knocking home her 10th of the year against UNC. 
  • After scoring just once during her freshman season, back Mia Montag delivered a brace in the opener against Iowa and added two more goals against UMass Lowell.
    • She ranks eighth overall in points in the ACC with 17, adding nine assists to go along with the four goals.
      • Her nine assists rank second in the ACC. 
  • Of the 18 athletes with double-digit points so far this season in the conference, Wake Forest holds three of them with Storey (23), Schoenbeck (19) and Montag (17) all ranking in the top eight. 
  • Head Coach Jen Averill picked up her 450th career win as the Demon Deacons defeated UMass Lowell 9-1.
