No. 8 Deacs Sweep Radford, Advance to NCAA Second Round vs No. 24 Auburn

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A 4-0 sweep of Radford Friday night for the No. 8 Wake Forest men's tennis team advances the Deacs to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. Wake Forest will face 24th-ranked Auburn Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
Wake Forest (32-6) improves to a 174-23 home record since head coach Tony Bresky took over the helm in 2012. This includes an impressive 104-4 record the past six seasons as the Deacs hold a perfect 25-0 at home this season.
Wake Forest claimed the doubles point for a 29th time this season and improved to 27-2 when taking a 1-0 advantage with a doubles victory.with wins on courts one and two over the Highlanders (14-8). The doubles pairing of Eduardo Nava and Robert Maciag went up early and never looked back, en route to an eventual 6-0 victory on court one over Demis Taramonlis and Andres Silva.
No. 34th-ranked duo of Jakob Schnaitter and Siddhant Banthia logged their 12th doubles win of the season (12-5) with a 6-4 triumph on court two over Guilherme Severin and Konstantinos Raptis to clinch the Deacs doubles point.

Singles saw a sweeping of first sets, with the Deacs taking all six first sets. No. 61 Nava was the first Deac to finish in singles action, roaring past Guilherme Severin, 6-1, 6-0.
The Deacs took a 3-0 lead when Maciag won in straight sets over Radford's Robert Hagen, 6-3, 6-3.
The clinching fourth point came on court three from Rrezart Cungu, as he defeated Andres Silva in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 to advance the Deacs to the second round.
Singles matches on courts one, four and five went unfinished.
