Graduate transfer Anabelle Brodeur scored her seventh career goal and first as a Demon Deacon.
NEWTON, Mass. - Despite the first goal of her Wake Forest career from Anabelle Brodeur, the Deacs fell short in a 4-1 defeat on Friday afternoon at the Newton Field Hockey Complex.
Boston College (5-2, 1-0 ACC) took advantage of a pair of penalty corner goals, drawing four corners in the match, while Wake Forest (2-4, 0-1 ACC) had a pair.
Wake Forest finished the match with five shots, including three on goal, while B.C. had 13 shots and nine on goal.
Graduate transfer Anabelle Brodeur sent a shot on frame that was saved by the Boston College goalie, but a great second-chance effort by Brodeur led to Wake's first goal of the match. Brodeur snuck the rebound shot by the Boston College goalie to trim into the lead early in the fourth quarter.
Entering the match as the ACC leader in saves, junior Ellie Todd added five more to her ledger and now has 27 stops through six matches.
How It Happened
"Credit to Boston College. They had structure and purpose tonight and finished when given the opportunity. All of us are disappointed. We didn't show the brand of hockey we're capable of playing. We will regroup, find the lessons and grow. I remain steadfast in my belief in this team." - head coach Jen Averill
