
Wake Forest Track and Field Set for Dual-Schedule Lineup

The Demon Deacons enter week three of the indoor season, competing in the BU Terrier Classic in Boston, Mass., and the Gamecock Challenge in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After a stellar showing at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 17, with a series of top finishes in the men's 1-mile, six Demon Deacons will head to Boston, Mass., on Saturday, Feb. 1 to compete at the BU Terrier Classic. Meanwhile, other squad members will travel to Columbia, S.C., to compete in the Gamecock Challenge.

On Jan. 17, Robbie Grace posted a mark of 6.16 meters in the women's long jump to win at the Virginia Tech Invitational, inching closer to her personal best and Wake Forest indoor program record of 6.22m.
Additionally, Grace has notched three straight first-place finishes during the 2024-25 indoor season and was selected as the ACC Performer of the Week, an honor announced by the league office on Dec. 10, 2024.
Looking to extend the streak, Grace will compete at the Gamecock Challenge in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday. She will be joined by Bridget McNally, who added depth to the lineup with a mark of 5.85m at the Virginia Tech Invitational, surpassing her previous leap of 5.82m.
Trailblazers on the Track
For the second time this season, the Demon Deacons will travel to Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 1, to compete in the 800-meter, 1-mile, 3000-meter, and 5000-meter events.
In the men's mile on Jan. 17, several Wake Forest athletes posted exceptional performances at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., with seven finishing in the top 10.
Sophomore Rocky Hansen led the competition, winning with a personal-best time of 3:57.90. Freshman JoJo Jourdon, finished second at 4:00.35.
Hansen now ranks second on the Wake Forest Indoor Track and Field All-Time List for the mile, just behind Thomas Vanoppen (3:54.85), while Jourdon sits in fourth.
At the BU Terrier Classic, Hansen will compete in the 5000m, and Jourdon will race in the 3000m.
For the women, Charlotte Augenstein and Rylan Engels will compete in the mile and the 4000m Distance Medley Relay at the Gamecock Challenge.
Augenstein and Engels have continued to make strides, highlighted by a standout performance at the Virginia Tech Invitational. Augenstein surged late in the women's mile to win with a time of 4:46.51, while Engels finished second, clocking 4:48.94.
On Dec. 7, the duo shattered personal bests and set new facility and meet records in the 1000m at the JDL Early Bird Invitational. Augenstein took the lead, finishing first with a time of 2:46.98, while Engels secured second with a time of 2:47.74.
Augenstein and Engels now hold second and third place on the women's Wake Forest Indoor All-Time List for the 1000m.
On the Hunt
Junior Charlie Sprott, returns to action in Boston, ready to compete in the 3000m event after posting a personal-best time of 13:41.94 in the 5000m at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Dec. 7, 2024.
Paul Specht joins Sprott at the BU Terrier Classic, turning his attention to the mile after capturing third place with a time of 4:01.06 at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
Brooke Wilson will begin her 2025 campaign at the Gamecock Challenge, competing in the mile and the 3000m after recording a stellar personal best time of 15:49.45 in the 5000m, securing an impressive 32nd-place finish at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, Mass., to open the season.
Deacs Lead the Field
At the Gamecock Challenge, Isabella Gera and Jacob Goldberg will compete in the shot put and weight throw.
In their last outing at the Mondo College Invitational on Jan. 17, in Winston-Salem, N.C., Gera and Goldberg each secured first-place finishes in their events. Gera posted a mark of 14.51 meters in the shot put, while Goldberg recorded a throw of 18.11 meters in the weight throw.
Through the first four competitions of the 2024-25 season, Gera has earned three first-place finishes—two in the shot put and one in the weight throw. Goldberg has claimed two first-place finishes and set a personal best of 18.43 meters in the weight throw.
2025 Indoor Track and Field Top-10 Marks
Men's 1-mile
Wake Forest will gear up for a busy weekend, with two local competitions in Winston-Salem, N.C.—the Camel City Sprints Invitational on Feb.7 and the Camel City Distance Classic on Feb. 8. That same weekend, another group will travel to Blacksburg, Va., to compete in the Doc Hale VT Meet from Feb. 7-8.
