
No. 20 Wake Forest Open Season in Iowa at ACC/Big 10 Challenge

The Demon Deacons face a pair of ranked opponents to start the 2025 campaign.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 20 Wake Forest field hockey team begins the 2025 season, venturing to Iowa City, Iowa, for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Deacs will take on No. 15 Iowa on Friday, August 29, at 3:30 p.m. ET, followed by a Sunday showdown with No. 7 Michigan at noon ET. Both matches will be available on Big Ten Network +.
Opponent History
Friday's matchup with the Hawkeyes marks a rematch of last season's opener, when Wake Forest fell 1-0 in a shootout.
The Deacs will then turn their attention to the Wolverines, another perennial Big Ten power. In last year's meeting, Wake Forest battled to the final whistle before dropping a 2-1 decision, with Faye Janse finding the back of the cage in the first quarter.
Wake Forest is 11-14 all-time against Iowa and 21-9 all-time against Michigan.

- At the senior level for Team USA, junior Mia Schoeneck most recently helped the Senior National Team capture silver at the Pan American Cup and secure a spot at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup.
- Wake alumni, Brooke McCusker and Grace Delmotte, competed with Field Hockey Canada at the event.
- Schoenbeck also helped Team USA to a fourth-place finish at the 2025 FIH Nations Cup where she earned her first start and scored her first goal at the senior level in the tournament.
- Rising sophomores Lena Keller and Mia Montag competed with Team Germany at the Four Nations Tournament.
- Rising junior Ava Moore and incoming freshman Calista Boos were selected to compete in the 2025 Senior Nexus Championship (NXC).
- With seven caps at the junior level, Moore was also selected to the Team USA Women's 2025 Junior Pan American Games where she captained the US side to a silver medal.
- Boos was named to the 2025 U.S. U-18 Women's National Team back in February.
